Commonwealth Cats, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 public charity founded and incorporated in April 2004.

Mission

Our mission is to deliver humane sterilization and vaccination services for the health and population control of feral cats in Massachusetts.

Vision

Oscar , a feral cat, in the wildBy providing spay/neuter and vaccination services for feral cats at no-cost to caretakers and trappers, we will work toward the following objectives:

  • Reducing the number of feral cats in Massachusetts through non-lethal methods,
  • Minimizing the suffering of un-owned cats,
  • Reducing the number of unwanted cats,
  • Ending the euthanasia of healthy animals, and,
  • Providing services to cats who would not otherwise receive veterinary care.

Commonwealth Cats, Inc., is funded by donations, and operated entirely by volunteers. Licensed veterinarians perform surgery pro bono. Veterinary technicians as well as other dedicated professionals contribute their time and skills to help the animals. Clinics will be held at varying locations in Massachusetts, at sponsoring veterinary practices. The services of Commonwealth Cats will be provided at no cost to the caregivers that bring in the cats, but are intended only for un-owned feral cats who would not otherwise receive veterinary care.
