Clinic Review
November 6, 2005 Spay, Neuter and Vaccination Clinic
Yesterday Commonwealth Cats organized a clinic in Danvers, MA. We scheduled 56 cats and 37 cats were admitted. We had an almost even gender split, with 19 females and 18 males. The autumn is a very nice time to hold clinics ? the weather tends to be comfortable for trapping and return of the cats, the females are typically not pregnant and the males are often in better condition because they have not been fighting as they do during the breeding season.
Commonwealth Cats is very grateful to the Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute for allowing us the use of their facility for our clinic. The cats that we admitted came from colonies in Danvers, Saugus, Revere, Billerica, Boston, Brockton, Shrewsbury and Worcester. The trapping was coordinated by cat rescue and humane groups including the Neponset Valley Humane Society, HubCats, and MassPaws. We also had cats that were sent by Animal Control Officers and other individuals committed to helping animals.
We would like to say thank you to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society for lending us their surgery packs and supplies. Thank you to Bethany Roy and Annette Sallet who donated and brought lunch for all of the volunteers.
Commonwealth Cats has been very fortunate to have a dedicated team of veterinarians, veterinary technicians and assistants who have volunteered their time and expertise to help feral cats in Massachusetts who would not otherwise receive any veterinary care. A very special ?Thank you? to all of you for supporting our organization in providing care to some of the neediest cats in Massachusetts.
